CBS had the "Must-See" TV that year placing 8 shows in the Top 10.  60 Minutes is the only show still producing new shows today. Of course, Monday Night Football was also an institution then as well. Some of the top shows from that year have done reunion movies! Dallas, The Dukes of Hazzard, and CHiPs have done reunion movies. The Love Boat and Fantasy Island was in the TV schedule that year as well, now there have been remakes done this year of both shows.

Sunday nights in 1979 on CBS had five of the Top 20 on, much like Thursdays on NBC these days. Other popular shows of the time included: Mork & Mindy, Charlie's Angels, Hart to Hart, The Rockford Files(not the X-Files, as there was no FOX network in 1979), Diff'rent Strokes, The White Shadow, The Incredible Hulk, and B.J. and the Bear.
